Solar Powered Air Conditioners CAN Work (With These Minor Adustments)

I cringe at the thought of having to pay yet another high summer electricity bill. My verdict: solar powered air conditioning CAN work...but it would need these minor changes first...
Solar Power Is Rapidly Becoming A Resource To Be Reckoned With
We have already started exhausting the fuel powers and are in great need for inventing an alternate source of power.
How good it could be, if we could actually get energy from a clean, pure source rather than burning coal, oil or petroleum gases?!
A Great Energy Source That Pops Into My Mind Is Solar Power.
Not only is solar power inexhaustible, but it is also cheaper than the cheapest, as it could be obtained free, with out much effort.
We Have Already Started Using Solar Power For Heaters To Warm Up Water.
But its usage in other things like lights and fans is still under a question, for it needs battery for backing up.
- The problem here is the battery life is limited and it costs more than we would have spent on electric current.
But the idea of NOT using solar power for air conditioners haunts me at times, especially when I get fed up with the electric bills in hot summer.
Solar Powered Air Conditioning Could Be Made To Work With Some Minor Changes.
First of all, we would need mini sized parabolic trough collectors, erected on the open terrace of our building connected to evacuated absorber tube receivers.
The troughs would track the sun all along the day and focus the resulting radiation on the evacuated absorber tube receivers.
- This tube must be capable of absorbing the solar radiation without much emission.
- The absorbed heat is connected to a turbine generator which produces the necessary power for running an air condition.
Though It Appears That Solar Powered Air Conditioning Is Similar To A Water Heater Operating On Solar Power, There Are Lots Of Dissimilarities Between Them.
Both the water heater and air conditioner need nearly 2000 watts of power, but...
- In solar water heater, the mechanism is heat to heat, which involves simple procedures.
- In solar powered air conditioner, it is heat to cold which would need more mechanism and technology. Also it would need a huge battery for backing up the collected power for using at night.
Solar Powered Air Conditioning Is Just What The Doctor Ordered
If the kinks involved with solar powered air conditioners are worked out, then there is no doubt number of users of solar powered air conditioners would increase drastically.
Because, for many people, the cost of the one-time product and installation cost of the solar powered air conditioning unit will FAR outweigh what is currently being spent on high electricity bills.
